Default What is the LATEST WORD on DEXCOOL? Use or go GREEN?

My new to me 2000 with 4.3 needs all fluids changed out......and with ALL the horror stoires and videos of DEXCOOL (agent Orange for engines)
has the formula changed or are we all using alternative coolants????????????????

I have 150K on my ride, and I cannot report when it was last changed. I just found the cabin filters were never changed out. So I imagine service was
only on as as needed basis for this ride.

What say you with these Vortecs ...........Orange? Green? Yellow? What say you.?????? Thanks AZ

as long as its c hanged when required...it won't be a problem. When left in to long it becomes acidic and eats intake gaskets. if you ever have to do intake gaskets...get the update style that uses a metal frame vs plastic frame.

I would do the fl uid change and stay with dexcool.

New, old, might be no one has the answer. I prefer green although my suburban (my opinon), but it has dexcool in it as the previous owner only used ac/delco on everything including oil filter. The things you've read about dexcool eating plastic turkey trays in the intake were probably true 15 years ago, again IMO the material used in the engine wasn't where it is in "current" manufactured engines. You should be able to find dexcool at autozone or O'Riellys . There is also a mixture that is "compatible" to dexcool, and ehtelyn glycoll (green), I'd however stick with one or the other, and not mix.
