**Trans** Feels like I lost my first huntin dog all over again......
Hello board,
Sad campfire day ;(
Specs:
- 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 1/2 Ton 5.3L Ext 2WD
- 4L60E -or- 4L80E Trans
Details of last 1000 ft the truck moved: Exited off of I-55 onto Veterans Parkway in Central IL. Came down the off ramp to the light. Made a right onto veterans parkway and high rev when trying to accel but little torque/power to the wheels. It resumed to normal after about 250ft until about 500-750 ft when it did it again. Didn't think i'd make the steep incline up over the bridge, so I pulled over. No dummy lights, standard oil/water/voltage readings including fluid levels were fine. *****I've had brake issues for over a yr now*****
Details I noticed:
- After parked it wouldn't rev above 2k RPM
- No shifting sounds/vibrations from P/R/N/D/M(1+)
- Felt like I was holding the brake trying to power brake a truck....
Mechanics Understanding Issue Supposably as well as I can remember it(Started drinking immediately as soon as i heard the repair cost): Something along the issue of the brake sensor or lever or something was telling the transmission to disengage. Transmission wasn't 100% disengaging resulting in grinding of the teeth.
Price to rebuild from affiliate to the shop I brought it to: $5,000
Total: $5,000 for Rebuild
Price for Jasper Transmission w/ 75,000 miles: $3,000
Price for leaking Transmission lines: $300
Total: $3,300 for Used Non Rebuilt Jasper Transmission
Personally, I am looking at rebuilt 4L60E transmissions and 4L80E and its about 30% of the cost. Only an assumption but I assume theres another 500$ in reflushing/refilling/etc........ One thing just makes me wonder. How are there so many refurbished/rebuilt transmissions if a rebuild kit wouldn't fix them.. And how is a transmission shop going to charge $5,000 for a rebuild when you can buy a factory new one cheaper. They'd be out of business..
This is my work truck and only vehicle I use for my Family/Contractor Company me and my wife operate and sometimes our little one when she wants to pick up a hammer and help dad. We can't afford a $3,300 bill. Please help with any information at all.
