Default 07 classic silverado non afm but sounds like it has lifter chirp

Ha I'm wondering if I have a possible pad camshaft or something to that effect. Back in September of 2019 I had let my stepsister borrow my truck and after a A year of hard not wanting to give it back I finally got the truck back and there was a couple of things wrong with it that were not wrong with it when I let her borrow it. For instance hurt idiotic wanna be mechanic boyfriend has beaten the sod of the old pen where the old filter screws in so therefore it does not seal off that great with the old filter on it and when it is under pressure when the truck is running it leaks the oil out of the spots where the old Pan has been hit with something but I had to over tighten the oil filter just a little bit to get it to sell off completely even though I did not want to do there and also there is an absolute terrible chirping noise coming from somewhere around the engine and at 1st I thought it might have been a tension or pulley but I have watched a couple of videos on the AFM lifter church and it sounds like the exact same noise but when I took the valve covers off to check and see if any of the lifters were collapsed, all of the lifters are moving and moving at the same rate as the non AFM lifters but upon further inspection I did not realize at 1st that the 07 classic model does not have AFM so now I'm still wondering what the chirp could be and it seems to be louder on the driver side then on the passenger side. Now it could just be as simple as the alternator pulley bearings going out or a bearing of some sort on a pulley going out making that noise but sometimes it's not as loud as other times are like when I'm going down the road a could be loud sitting at a stop light But it could be quiet 10 minutes from then so it could be something as simple as a belt but I have put water on the bell before and the squeak did not seem to go away at all and I've also sprayed a couple of the pulleys and still no noise went away so now I'm wondering what my next step would be but I also took out the lifters on the passenger side and Either the intake or exhaust lift or 4 cylinder 6 had a couple of chunks taken out of the roller on the lifter and I'm wondering if something might be in the block causing that noise but I'm not 100% for sure

The first thing to eliminate are the pulleys. Your truck will have two belts. One is the main serpentine belt. The other is the air conditioning compressor belt which is low down on the passenger side. Remove the main belt by turning the belt adjuster nut to the right. Slip the belt off. Turn each pulley and wobble front to back. If they make noise or wobble more than just a bit, replace them. Check the power steering pulley and see if it wobbles front to back. If it has play, replace the powered steering pump. If the AC compressor belt has never been changed, now would be a good time. Good luck.

Oh thanks man I have replaced the idler pulley so far but I've been super busy really and havent had any time to work on it but I have tried the serpentine belt and that was a no go but I havent tried the ac belt yet si I will definitly look at that next. But why would it have a ticking noise instead of a squeak though? I guess if a bearing is bad then it would make a ticking noise. It just sounded like it was coming from almost dead center of the motor but from under the intake or maybe a little more predominantly on the driver side. Idk I already have a valvetrain and cam swap kit for it from TSP so that will eliminate anything coming from the cam or lifters for sure but I do very much appriciate the reply

Default 5.3 Squeak. (Aluminum Block)

2010 Silverado Z71 LTZ
5.3 aluminum block
156,000 miles
Mobil 1 oil changes
Fram or Wix filters
parked outdoors rain or shine, blizzard or rainbow
Nothing else special or aftermarket as I am writing this.

Hi all. So I have gone through every forum I could find trying to figure out the Squeak/chirp and Knocking sound from my 2010 Silverado. I have the Allstar Package so my block is actually aluminum but I am guessing it will hold true for iron as well.

This was intermittent. I checked all my pullies twice. I used a stethoscope to find out that it was in the driver side bank. I also noticed that it went away when my DOD came on. Beyond that nothing seemed to change it. I tried high zinc additives. (STP, and GM break in fluid) I tried to drive hard, drive soft, for short and long periods of time. It just had no rhyme or reason, except that it always came back.

After pretty much resigning myself to a full tear down and rebuild, I noticed one last thing. it seemed to be tied to the fuel I was using. Now its not quite that simple but close. I also have the low oil pressure issue now. It seems I am going to have to pull the pan and fix the seal. Already did the sensor. Oil changes on the regular. My truck has 156,000. I am the second owner.

I am wallet conscious and so I run E85 here at the gas station close to my apartment. Its 40c cheaper a gallon. That was the actual issue. Its seems with the lower oil pressure,, and the E85, for whatever reason, it makes the chirp. I have tested it now and I am very sure it only happens while running ethanol. I don't know why and maybe someone can help me understand. Though I did finally get and answer to the Squeak after dealing with it off and on, for a year.

So now I happily run a mix of ethanol and gas fillups, and I don't have knocking, squeaking, chirping, or any other crazy noises. (Except my music) thanks for all the help.

from what i hear...when you run e85 you shorten the oil change interval due to higher oil dilution from the e85

Could you be chasing a wild goose?
What kind of pulley is on the alternator of your vehicle?
Is it a std or overrunning clutch pulley?
