Staying in first gear and sometimes popping out of reverse

I just bought a 2007 chevy 1500 im having issues with it staying in first gear and speedometer not working and sometimes it pops out of reverse and starts grinding

Might be your transmission is going south

As any Chevrolet Customer Service Representative will say; Sorry for your experience, try calling a local marina and ask if anyone there needs a yacht anchor?
