Default 2008 Silverado 1500 Questions - Purchasing

Hey all I am new to this forum and am potentially purchasing a 2008 Silverado 1500 2WD 4.3 Auto . It's only got 74k miles and appears to be all stock. I have a couple questions/concerns below and would really appreciate some friendly guidance

I took the truck out for a spin last night (it's my buddies families) and noticed the 1-2 shift to be very firm and crisp. Is this normal for this truck? I didn't notice any other slipping or weird feelings from the tranny, even punched several times and downshifted and up-shifted manually just to be sure. But the 1-2 shift didn't feel stock and the family has no idea if it has trans problems or a shift kit. Common sense told me the tranny shifted fine but something is going on down there.... I did notice that when in D and putting it to the floor, the truck didn't really want to downshift as I expected it to. It did downshift, but I think just to 3rd and not 2nd not 100% positive if that is the case, just something that caught my attention. I am doing research on this topic as we speak but wanted a quick answer as to what you guys thought.

Another thing I noticed is the passenger side door locks with the aftermarket Clifford alarm but it does not unlock (or it may be the reverse of that cant be certain). I am guessing this could be a door lock actuator issue or something along those lines. Thoughts?

The trucks horn doesn't honk with the Clifford alarm like a stock Chevy would do; any chance I can return the key fob and alarm back to stock or somehow make it honk when locking with the aftermarket alarm?

About 1 minute of driving, there is a "ding ding ding ding ding", that comes over the speakers kind of like it's the factory computer saying the door is ajar or something. Any ideas on what this could be and/or why it's happening?

Last, its just a base model (dark bluish/greyish/greenish color like the one on this page) with crank windows and cloth seats. What is re-sale going to be like? At KBB, below or above in most cases? I know it's not a very desirable trim or engine, but it's such a great deal I am having trouble passing it up.

If I end up keeping the pickup, I would do a slight 2/4" lowering kit and the 20" polished aluminum Tahoe takoff wheels if I can find a good enough deal. To keep costs low, what lowering kit do you guys suggest to fit my needs? Any photos of this same setup floating around?

Thanks,
Sean
