So I have a great low mile 2008 2500hd Silverado truck. I want to possibly change the gearing from 3.73 to 4.10 for hauling a little bit bigger trailer. Right now selling for a bigger truck is not really an option! Was looking for some insight on if this is even worth the trouble or not. Its a 4x4 so I believe that the front and rear gears need to be the same! Any knowledge would be great. Thanks in advance!

 

Yes, the ratios must be the same. You are talking lots of $$$ however besides the new gears, as your gears need to be properly set to specifications. You can't just install them and forget about it. Furthermore, you might need a new or flashed ECM too as it's set up for your 3.73s

 

IMO, that's a minimal gear change. Maybe a 4:30 to a 4:56
