Can you swap in a Gen I 5.7L into a 2008 Silverado?

The guy who has the truck is strapped for cash after making previous repairs to the truck. He wants to keep the truck and the Gen I 5.7's are considerably cheaper than the "true" replacement engine.

You can get on Craigslist and find pulled motors all day for less than 1k. You'd spend more than that just makin the conversion possible

communication for the ecm is different. There would be way more involved.
