I'm now at 89K, and probably should get this safety issue fixed. I've been in contact with the Chevy Customer Care team here (great communication BTW) and they got me in with a local dealer. Price was $1040, and GM was willing to put up 30% of that…so I'd be stuck with a $750 tab for the fix. IMO, a bit too much for me to spend on a known problem with a line of vehicles. I've already asked and the complaint has been elevated to a district specialist, and for that i'm appreciative. Fingers are crossed that the specialist will be able to help.

I'll post back up with whatever info I'm able to get. Thanks for letting me vent
Update… the District Specialists gave me a shout yesterday. They "unfortunately" are unable to provide any more assistance past the "generous" 30% which GM has offered. This will leave me with a $750 tab at the dealer should I choose to replace the dash with the new and improved version. I told the lady, and the social media here, that I'm not angry or upset. I just find it comical that they (GM) can clear roughly 10B in profits after being bailed out but can't find it to split the dash repair 50/50 with me.

Its not that big of a deal. I'm sure there are a few well-to-do families that will be suing after these cracked dashes send flying shrapnel into the passenger cabin and causing further injury.

Me, I'll be using some JB plastic weld and a weekend to do my best to patch it up.

I'm having the same issue, My truck (2008 Silverado 1500) is in great shape, I bought it from a buddy at work because he pampers his cars. 3 months after I bought it I saw the crack above the airbag. This is my second Chevy and I'm definitely a Chevy guy but its hard to stand behind a product as a consumer when the manufacturer doesn't back you. I was at my local dealership 2 days ago, they looked at me like I was crazy and said they are not aware of any dash issues.
disappointed...

I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. I have a 2007 suburban LTZ with 113,000 miles on it. This weekend I was detailing it as I do often and noticed two cracks in the dash as well and in the same spots as the rest of you. I know the dealership won't do anything about it other than charge an arm and a leg to fix it as I am way past my warranty. Chevy Customer Service, any recommendations?????

I have a 2007 Silverado 4dr Lt model, and mine has cracked in more than one spot. It is bad, especially when you did a significant bump in the road. It sounds awful with the rattle. Does anyone know what has caused this problem? Has anyone had any luck at the dealerships to get it fixed? There should be some kind of recall on this.

GM will use part of its 10b in profits to pay attorneys to fight customers from getting the dash fixed. If you get in an accident and shards of dash gashes your face they could care less.

Ghost, keep looking for a better dealership. The Chevy reps on this site helped me get mine done and my dealership in San Antonio stepped right to the plate. Don't hang it on Chevy when the dealer is your problem.
Just sayin....

mwilson6,

If the issue was a set of dealer add on wheels or bed liner, I could see it being a dealer issue. Seems like a bad deal to put it on the dealers who have no say in the quality of products GM puts out. Kudos to the dealers that support us as customers and take the hit. Still love my truck though!

I'm not hanging anything on the dealership. I would really like GM to step to the plate for a faulty piece of equipment. You pay all this money for a new vehicle and then the dash cracks. Something is wrong with that picture. I have contacted numerous dealerships Chevrolet and GMC and there prices are completely different. SO far no dealers I have talked to have stepped up to the plate to take care of this problem, even though they know GM is at fault. You can tell them all the time that there is this Website and that people have had there dash replaced at no charge, but they say that is them and this is us. We are different from the other dealers. What would happen if you did get in a wreck and something bad happened? Would GM take the blame for it? I just want to get it fixed even if I have to pay for it, but I would like to know a price that doesn't jump in great amounts in price from dealer from dealer.
