Same problem. 2008 silverado 2500 crew cab. Garage kept and only 56000 miles. VERY well taken care of. The only speakers I have working are the two little ones in the posts by the windshield. Is there a recall? I know atleast 10 other people who have the same problem.

Installed 2 new speakers in the front doors and sounds great. Bought 2 Pioneer 6.5" with kit. Took about an hour for the first and 20 min for the second. Going to do the backs now that I know it works. Thanks everyone. This may not be a safety issue but it sure shows crappy quality standards.

 

My speakers on my 04 crewcab self destructed,

on a long ride home one night. I'm not going to say that was because

of a designed-in factory defect, the 12 decibel/octave crossovers which

caused cascade failure of all other speakers once the first failed, because I

certainly wouldn't know.

You need to install a dataport adapter to use

most aftermarket head units & radios. This is because after 2002,

Chevrolet started phasing out radio positions on the ignition

switches of it's vehicles.

But I'm sure that little factoid just slipped the factory rep's mind,

as he would have certainly mentioned it otherwise.

IMHO, however, most stereo upgrade work is easily within the

skills range of your average DIYer.

Top grade components, such as Pioneer, Rockford Fosgate,

Phoenix Gold, Clarion, JVC, and JBL are very affordable, when you're not

paying egregious labor charges to go with them, and the result

is not only self-fulfilling and enabling, but very satisfying to the ears

as well.

So go ahead, google the gear, and the methods. In the end,

you'll throw rocks at that factory crap the truck came with.

And if that's a reflection of how cheap they are at the factory,

and how poorly they back their products and customers, that's

THEIR problem, not ours, guys.

I know I LOVE listening to my awesome audio, and it was 100%

done by my own hand ...

 

01 GMC has the same problem. Mine usually work but sound horrible muffled and vibrating with every bass and drum beat. Driving me crazy!!! Will replace them with quality speakers.

 

Noticed today that the front door speakers on my 08 extended cab quit working....

 

I have the same issue mine were all out within 2 years. I finally saved up the money and just bought all new aftermarket speakers. Its been over two years and the aftermarkets still sound good. Its a really frustrating to have to replace something like speakers when I don't lissen very load or very often.

 

I have a 2008 Silverado and I am having the same problem with my speakers as well. Sometimes the music will only play through the twitters on the dash and the sometimes it might play in the front speaker on the driver side or some where in the back. i have another friend and his truck it doing the same thing.

 

Previously posted that I have the same speaker issues with my 2007 Suburban ... weather has warmed up here in Vancouver and my front door speakers are now working (more times than not).

Also, I notice that when my speakers are working I hear the "beep" when I put the truck into reverse and when I start getting close to an object (no "beep" if the front door speakers are not working)? Anyone else notice this?

 

i have a 2008 Sliverado with the same problems. i have no answer for the speakers but the cruise control issue is a worn out brake light switch. it is mounted under the dash close to the brake pedal. very simple replacement.
