2009 Chevy 1500 Towing Capabilities
Hello. I am new to this forum.
I have a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Z71. It has a Vortec 5.3l engine with a 4 speed tranny and a 3.73 rear axle. I have tried looking online and in the manual for it's towing capabilities, with no real luck. Everywhere I turn it is a different towing and hauling number.
If anyone could help tell me how much it can tow and haul I would really appreciate it!
Thanks!

Towing rating starts on page 4-55 in the owners manual. It depends on the wheelbase, not just engine and rear axle. Short bed, long bed, crew cab, extended cab, regular cab, etc. It also matters whether or not you have the K5L cooling package.

Correct, it is an extended can with standard box. I put a little bigger tired from 265/7017's to 285/7017's with just a 3" body lift and differential drop, as not to affect the steering/handling. The door panel states that it is the K10753 model. The manual states it only tows 7600lbs with max total weight limit of 13,000, however I doubt it only tows so little since my friends 2004 same model other than having a 3.42 axle ratio towed 11,000 (exceeding the limits a bit, but towed just fine).

There's a commercial showing a Toyota pickup pulling the space shuttle. That's a good reference, too. If you're going to ignore the rating in the owner's manual, go big or go home.
PS - there's a BIG difference between what a truck can tow and what it's rated to tow.
