I bought a set of strut assemblies for my ‘09 Silverado 1/2 ton 2wd short wide. The old strut assemblies came out without a hitch. The foot of both struts slid off their perch on the lower control arms and dropped out easily. The new struts were a different story. The top studs lined up and bolted down easily, but with the studs drawn up, the lower feet hung down another 1/2” to 3/4” below the perches on the control arms. I had to pry the control arms down in order to set the feet in place. They fought me the whole way. After installation, my truck sits about an inch higher in front, and rides like a 3/4 ton. Rougher then heck. I hate it. My questions are, could I have mistakenly received 3/4 ton struts, if there is such a thing?. And, is there a difference in 4wd struts vs 2wd. Thank you in advance.

 

what struts did you buy?i usually try to stick with gm or ac delco for that reason however...that is usually the more expensive route.did you put the old next to the new to see the difference?
