Default 2010 Silverado key replacement

new guy here from maryland, have a couple questions when it comes to my 2010 Silverado z71 that we just got from a dealer (traded in my 2002 1500 work truck).

it only came with one key and a key fob with remote start, im looking to get a duplicate key and maybe another key fob but what are my options? does they key need any special programming and how does one get an OEM remote start key fob?

I am done with the key fob advice, but you can contact one of the sponcers/ advertisers here: iKeyless at https://carkeysexpress.com/store.

Good luck. Sure glad my 1998 Chevy K-1500 doesnt have any of that electronic nonsense. Take key, open door, start engine and HIT IT! ! .

2010 was the last year you could program a key fob yourself. After 2010 you need a locksmith with the correct programmer. I bought a spare key at Home Depot for my 2013 Silverado for under $40. They cut the key and I programmed it. It was very easy. You can buy a key fob and program it yourself. Check out the link. There are other companies also.

It looks like it should work. You will still need to take it to a key shop to have it cut.
