Well I finally got my 08 GMC Sierra tore down. As it turns out it's not the lifter that's failing. It seems that a couple errors was made by the engineer. First the lifters since the roller lifters they have to stay a certain position a plastic tray is what holds them in place wow. The roller lifters for the AFM the guy that keeps them straight is nothing like the God who keeps the other lifter straight every AFM failure is going to be on an active fuel management cylinder because the trade that keeps the lifter straight fails and the lifter turn sideways. I don't know if Chevrolet was struggling and thought this would be a way to generate some revenue or what but if anyone inspected that load lifter try they would say wow just like I did I can't believe you Chevrolet.

It is a plastic tray that is supposed to keep the lifter straight.

So did a lifter turn. They do make aftermarket lifters with link bars that keep them from doing this…
