One of my favourite oil filters is the Fram Ultra which is quite an improvement over the other Fram models. I noticed that in 2013, Fram spec’d the XG10060 for all the gas Chev V-8’s and the V-6.

In 2014, this changed to the Fram XG10575. It stayed with this filter to include the 2018 models. Some fellows in the “Bob is the oil guy” forum noted that the XG10575 filter is longer than the XG10060 filter but has exactly the same base. They are running the XG10575 on the earlier engines for the greater filter capacity. The XG10575 filter is still short enough that it does not stick down below the bottom of the oil pan.

Is anyone in this forum running the newer filter in the older trucks? Thanks

We can leave the 4.3 V-6 out of the discussion because the pre-2014 version did not use the XG10060 filter. However, the 4.8 liter V-8 did, and can be included.
