Default Hours vs. Miles

Just took delivery of a 2012 Silverado LT with 138k on the odometer. A bit higher than I was looking for, but with the used truck pricing these days, I feel I got a good deal. The truck looks like it has lived indoors for years. I asked the salesman how many hours were on the truck, and he was confused as to why I wanted to know. I saw the truck was rigged to be towed behind a motorhome, and wondered how many odometer miles could be attributed to towing. 3,100 hours for 138k miles? The average use looks like 14k per year, and the car fax shows regular service every 3k to 5k miles. Anyone else have a similar concern?

The manual has the procedure to check engine hours in the DIC. It doesn't differentiate between Tow mode and Cruise.
