Default How do I fix random misfiring

2012 Chevy Silverado 2500HD

I’m getting a p0300 code
Error Code P0300 indicates cylinder misfires. The letter P indicates an issue with your vehicle's Powertrain
Should I replace spark plugs, wires and all ignition coils? Truck has approx 110,000 miles on it.

thanks in advance.

joe

many things can cause misfiring. Best thing is to gather as much data as you can so you're not firing the parts cannon and chasing dead ends. Try to get a misfire count on each cylinder, and note down fuel trims for each bank. Visually inspect the spark plugs.

Like others have stated . Before shooting the Parts Cannon at this issue , Check each and EVERY ground connection between the Engine and chassis ,Engine and body , and Frame and engine and the Battery Negative cable and the Engine . for Cleanliness , Tightness , and completeness . If they are corroded they need cleaned down to clean metal . After clean apply an anti-corrosive compound that does Not harden.( I use “Truck-Lite NYK-77”) Lacquer based terminal preservatives when hardened will crack from vibration and allow corrosion to recur . After you have performed this critical task check the terminals on the ignition relays for corrosion . Same process here . Clean and apply preventative compound . to the stabs and sockets . I used Q-tips for this process .
All of this does take time but it will help eliminate weak or intermittent grounds that can cause such misfires . All of the Injectors and Ignition coils require solid ground connections in order to function properly .
