Default Interesting Failure

I have a 2007 Silverado Classic, 1/2 ton, 2WD with 165k. (4 speed automatic

Two years ago I had the failed transmission replaced with a Jasper re manufactured unit.

Yesterday I was driving and all of a sudden I heard a metallic slam and thinking that I drove over something, pulled over to look under the truck.
Everything looked fine.

When I put it back in gear though, it was obvious that the transmission was having some issues as it sounded like gears and metal gnashing.

The weird thing that also happened was that the Brake Light, ABS Light came on as well as the message, "Service Brake System" appeared in the DIC.

I was able to get the truck back home, albeit slowly and the brakes worked fine, with plenty of fluid in the master cylinder. So I'm wondering why the brake lights and messages kicked in, when it's 99% a transmission issue.

Thanks,
