New truck, wondering about adding remote start

I just bought a 2011 1500, it's a z85 Cheyenne although I'm not sure what all that entails yet. Are they easy to yourself? I am a mechanic, but I read some of them have to be programed at a dealer

Iv got a 2011 silverado, My dealer quoted the remote start addition at $299
this info was from the salesmen, and he didnt know if that included labor. Ill be getting it done before winter
