My 5.3 (140k) is missing at idle and at random times I have to add oil. There are no codes showing. I have decided I need a new pvc valve. Has anyone taken the DumbA original setup and 'fixed' it so you can change the valve the way it should be?
IE: take out old valve put in a grommet and a new PVC?
Thanks!

Not that I am aware of, but with time and money it's possible. I'm going to search for that too. Haven't had any troubles with it yet but it sure was nice to throw the old one out and put a new PCV valve and maybe a new grommet back in.

what year is your truck? pretty sure nov 09 and later builds have the updated parts.
if its misfiring due to anything related in the tsb...you have more issues than a pcv problem.
Thankfully I bought a cheap valve cover from RockAuto. The supposed PCV valve built into the valve cover, is only a ported hole. If it were ever to get clogged just take off the rubber hose and spray carb cleaner in there. Unlike traditional PCV valves there is no bearing no spring it is just a port. With pliers and some Force you can pull this 'valve' out, advance Auto has a replacement, whole lot cheaper than replacing the whole valve cover.
While in there I looked at my spark plugs number one seem to be a bit dirty.
