2007 silverado 4.8 V8. speeds kept going out on the fan until they all quit. I replaced the blower resistor. Speed 3 worked for a while and then it quit. I tested the fan motor by taking it out and connecting it to the battery. the fan ran. I got a new climate control module and and new blower resistor and installed them. I didnt put the cover back over the fan. When I turned the fan switch on the fan motor didnt run and the blower resistor started smoking. I quickly turned the truck off. Any ideas what else to check?
