I have a 2010 Silverado 1500 LT. I am wanting to install wheel well flares onto my truck. As is the case with a lot of these trucks, most will end up rusting around the wheel wells at some point in time. My truck is in good shape except for one small area that is beginning to bubble above one of the wheel wells. At this point, it is only surface bubbles.

My question is it a good idea to install flares over the areas that show small amounts of rust already? Will this help reduce the chance of future rust or only cover up the rust?

 

It will only cover up the rust. The rust starts on the inside of the wheel opening.
