Default 2014 chevy 2500hd slows down fast instead of coasting.

I'm looking to see if anyone has had this issue or if it's normal. I just bought this 2014 2500 6.0 gas with 11,500 miles on it. When driving it you feel like the brakes are being gently applied is the best way to describe it and when you let off the gas is slows fairly rapid almost like it has an engine brake or Jake brake on it. I can put it in neutral and it coast like a normal truck does. Once it slows to around 25 or so mph I get a louder type transmission sounding noise as it slows even more. It won't stop on its own but will slow way down by itself. I had the same model in 04 that did not do this and both of my 1500 models don't do it. Does anyone know what causes this? Or is it normal on this model it doesn't seem normal. I know it has a ground control feature for towing in hilly country I disabled it as per the manual it did not change anything. Thanks in advance!

What rear end gearing does it have? Is the trans shifting into a lower gear when this happens?

I think it does have some transmission retarding feature. My 2015 does it somewhat, but I actually don't mind it, and in fact actually like it. Lots of rural rolling hills I run on, gravel roads, and two lane kind of stuff with corners at bottom of hills, etc. So I actually kind of like it with the heavier 2500. Saves me a lot of brake use. Mine is 6.0L with 4.10. I actually will force the downshift to get even more braking effect occasionally. I guess what conditions one operates the pickup determine their comfort level with the retarding feature of the trans. Mine rarely sees interstate highway type of driving and low amount of in town kind of driving.

Hold the tow haul button in for 5 seconds and the engine braking will become disabled. the message center will confirm.

Newer vehicles with lots of feature- equals read owners manual!

Read the owners manual thanks though! I tried this it did not stop the issue. I have been told it is a normal feature on the truck not a big deal.
