Default 2014 silverado a/c locked up

The wife was in town, turning, when the truck just bogged down. No power. After some help, they realized the A/C was locked up. She could drive it as long as she kept the A/C off. The A/C compressor is also leaking green freon/oil out from its body. I have 36.753 miles on truck. Just out of warranty. I have notified Chevrolet by e-mail and am waiting on a reply. I have owned Chevrolet and GM vehicles since 1978, with no A/C trouble. Now I am seeing this new design is a problem. I feel Chevrolet should step up and cover or help cover this cost and I hope they are looking into fixing the problems with this design.

Got off the phone with Chevrolet Customer Service. I do have a Ref number for my claim, but will not know till tomorrow if they will help in the repair or not.

I am sure you understand that millions of GM vehicles and millions of other makes use the same compressor design thru out the world. GM does not design or make the compressor.

It is obviously locked up or frozen for some reason. Hope they can help you out.

OK, The truck goes in on Oct 20th. I have been assigned a case worker at Chevrolet. I removed the mud cover from under the engine. There was a hole blown out at the bottom side of the compressor. It looks like some kind of arm, rod, is trying to stick through. There was oil and pieces of metal on the top side of the mud cover. I will update when I know more.

Went to the Chevrolet Dealer today. The A/C compressor change would have cost me 925 dollars. Chevy said they would cover 75 percent of the cost, so I only have to pay about 225 dollars. With a truck over 750 miles out of warranty, they did more than I expected.
