The backup camera on my 2016 Silverado 2500HD has begun to intermittently fail. Something the camera works fine sometimes not at all. Sometimes the display screen says something to the effect "service backup camera soon". I've noticed that sometimes the image on the display flickers a little.

I've inpsected the wiring at the tailgate latch, the harness connector and wiring in between. Jiggling or manipulating them while the camera was on did not cause the camera to go off. Just upstream of the connector the wires went into a larger bundle of wires inside a corrugated tube and I could not track beyond there.

I'm seeking advice about how to troubleshoot this and correct it. As I think about it, this seems like a ground issue.
