Default 2016 Silverado Import from Mexico

Hello,

I bought a 2016 Chevy Silverado single cab down in Tijuana, Mexico but I have not been able to register it in California. It’s missing the federal standard sticker. I went CHP for a inspection and they are asking for a compliance letter from GM to make sure it complies to US standards. I have call GM but they said couldn’t send me a letter because the truck is from Mexico.

Any help on how I could get it register in California????
i currently have temporary permit to be able to drive it.

I don't know the answer, but why did you buy it down there? Just curious.

Probably best to call the CA- C.A.R.B. line or the CA- B.A.R. line and see what you can do. CA is really tough on emissions from anything burning petroleum fuels. Does it have all the things a CA model would have: EGR, CAT, EVAP, O2 sensors, ect?

Yes it has everything for emissions and it pass the smog check .

The price was much cheaper than buying it in California.

register it in a different state with lighter emissions standards then transfer the registration to your state
