Default Is 4.3 Enough in Silverado Short Bed PU?

My first post- I am considering a used Silverado Pick up- short bed, 2WD, work truck 4.3 V6, automatic 6 speed- 2015-2017. The 4.3 is rated at 285 HP, 305 Torque. My GF has a 2013 Silverado with the 4.8 V8, rated at 300 HP, 305 Torque. I installed a MBRP CAT back dual exhaust on it and the truck moves pretty well and sounds great. The truck has also been pretty much bullet proof after 50K miles- my reason for going with a Silverado. I see that most work trucks have the 4.3 and to get the 5.3 you have to get a lot of options in most cases increasing the price quite a bit. Will the 4.3 move the truck enough to keep up with traffic? Also I see that the MBRP exhaust will fit the 4.3. How will it sound with the 6? Is the 4.3 good enough or should I just spend the extra and get the 5.3? The bed will be empty most of the time and down the road maybe tow a small camper. Gas mileage ratings are better with the 4.3 also, leaning me to the 4.3.

I had a 99 Silverado with the 4.3 for 14 years and 175,000 miles. I had no problems with it and it ran great when I sold it. I now have a 13 Silverado with the 4.8. Also an excellent truck. The performance on the 2 is just about the same. I don't really notice much of a difference. They both have decent acceleration and will go faster than you will need for daily driving.
