Fuel injection service at dealership result in catalytic converter failure
Took my 2017 Silverado in for 50,000 mile service. Got fuel injection service. Picked up truck and drove a mile down the road and check engine light came on. Dealer said the fuel service was done wrong and messed up my catalytic converter. Never heard of fuel injection service messing up the catalytic converter. Anyone else had this problem?
if to much raw fuel goes into the convertor it will try to reduce/oxidize the raw fuel...it can overheat and melt the convertor. when a fuel injector sticks wide open..same thing happens the cats heat cherry red.
so what codes were set and what driveability problems do you have?

They didn't tell me the code. They said that they would have to replace the catalytic converter. They said they would cover it though. I left the truck at the dealership and they gave me a loaner. I was only a mile from the dealer when the check engine came on. ll call Monday to see what code(s) showed up. Just crazy that a "recommended" service caused this issue! I'm not sure I'll do a fuel injector service again on my vehicles.
what is supposed to happen for that service...the fuel pump is disabled...a container pressurized to the normal fuel pressure is connected to the fuel rail. this is run thru the system until the container is empty.
at the same time a device with a intake cleaner injector nozzle is place in the throttle body snorkel before the throttle plate...this cleans the throttle body and manifold.
it is an important cleaning procedure if you have direct injection...with di...the manifolds are dry so crud can build up on the back of the valves when cool air meets hot combustion
