Default One way to learn your vacuum pump is getting weak...

Took the 14 to a my friends shop and put new brake pads on all the way around, fixed a valve stem leak and whatnot, and when we set it down to pump the brakes, after starting it didn't have much for power brakes. Seems that if you use the brakes alot quickly when these pumps start wearing out, you start loosing boost pressure.

Now the fun part. Sourcing one. They are about 200 bux and no-one (haven't tried dealers yet, I'm sure they are much more there) has any.

Supposedly the brake recall has been done, I took it in shortly after I got it and they did the power steering recall and brake recall, however having just dug up the recall info, it sounds like the same issue.

Condition General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2014- 2018 model year Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Sierra, and GMC Yukon vehicles. In some circumstances, these vehicles may have a condition in which the engine-mounted mechanical vacuum pump output may decrease over time, decreasing the amount of vacuum/power brake assist.

Correction Dealers will reprogram the electronic brake control module with a new calibration that will improve how the system utilizes the hydraulic brake boost assist function when vacuum assist is depleted.
hmmmmm.
