Purchasing a new truck
My 2004 now has 290,xxx miles on it and is starting to nickle and dime me. I trying to buy a new truck but it will be my first one and wondering if I don't understand the process. I thought negotiating the price was a thing? Every dealer I talk to acts like they can't come down. And I know this could be sneaky salesman but they act like they don't even know what I am talking about when I mention bringing down the price. Here is my situation:
MSRP: $54,160
Dealer Discount: $5,246
Customer Cash: $5,500
Sale Price: $43,414
How much do you think I could talk them down off of the sale price? I had been told 20% off the sale price listed but that seems like a lot. Please let me know your thoughts as I am trying to move fast because my truck is done for and I have to get to work! Thanks in advance!

usually 10% off msrp is what i see. don't let them add $1000 delivery...that is paid by the manufacturer ....or any fee to write up the deal. Consider hiring a company to negotiate the purchase for you.

I have heard that the best time to buy is at the end of the month. Don't be afraid to get up and walk away. They will usually call you back. I have taken written quotes from one dealer to another and most of the time they will beat it.
