Default Shocks to handle load

I have a 2018 eAssist Chevy 1500 4x4 Silverado short box bed. I want to start looking at Truck Campers. I know it can support the weight.

my question is I have heard I should consider upgrading to better shocks and/or stiffer rear springs. Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful.

most 1500's can only handle light slide ins. refer to your glove box sticker for the cargo weight. my 2000 1500 only had a 750lb cargo weight. It has gone up on the newer 1500's.

air bags are a great product to firm up the sway and roll but will not raise the allowable cargo weight. The number from the factory is the number the federalies go by if they inspect your vehicle loading.
