I have been doing a build on the Chevy website for a 2018 Silverado 1500 and also on the Ford site for a comparably equipped F-150 pickup. The Chevy 1500 LD truck prices out at $44,800 and the Ford F-150 XL prices out at $37,249 and that is with the extra $500 with the Ford pickup to get the 36 gallon fuel tank (available only with Ford's trucks).

$7,000, or $7,560 with the sales tax added, is a heck of a premium to get the bow-tie. $7K would pay for enough gas to power the truck for the first 40,000 miles.

I have not looked at trucks for sale on dealer's lots so there may be something different in the "real" world.

Test drive both the F150 and The Silverado1500 and make careful comparisons to ride quality, interior appointments, handling, even how comfortable to seats are etc. to similar equipped vehicles. Reliability and cost of ownership are big factors as well. It will become obvious what just feels nicer.....Silverado

Silverado's cost more to manufacture, but deals are out there on the Dealer lots. The build web sites are overrated and not a usual reflection of true consumer costs.

I own a 1998 K-1500, 20 years and the only thing that had to be replaced by me, was the water pump and the fan belt. Found On Road Dead vehicles are cheaper becuase Chevrolet/GMC has them beat out hands down. Aluminum for a pickup bed? Ridiculous!
