Hey everyone, I have a 2020 LT Trail Boss with the 5.3 in it. I got it December 2019 and have loved every bit of it, however around 17k miles it had a misfire CEL. The dealer took it in for almost 3 weeks and finally fixed it. It had another blinking CEL a few months later, went to the dealer again, a misfire but this time they cleaned an injector and added conductive fluid/lube on the connector prongs to "help it". I've been feeling it misfire since but the CEL doesn't come on for it, I brought it back to the dealer a 3rd time and they told me they'd have to charge me diag time to look at it. Mind you I'm at 29k miles when I asked them... It still does it from time to time and I'm at 31k miles currently, what do I do? Does anyone else have this issue? Thank you.

Friend of mine had a misfire problem. Dealer brought in someone from GM and it turned out to be a bent push rod. Truck had less than 10,000 miles on it.

 

Glad to hear it. Pushrods don't normally bend unless you have a condition they didn't address.

 

the bent push rod was probably due to a collapsed lifter, i have seen several come through our shop with with that issue. GM has released a bulletin about it #PIP5776C. Of the 8 that have come through the dealer im at all 8 had bent (intake) push rods with the root cause of failure being a collapsed (exhaust) lifter. and only one of those had a damaged camshaft. Usually if its the lifter you have some type of noise along with the misfire, typically a loud pop at cold start up. not always though
