2021 Silverado 2.7L tow capacity vs 2020
The 2021 2.7L turbo has significantly more tow capacity over the 2020 with the 2.7L turbo engine. I'm curious if anybody knows the changes between the two model years that boosted the tow capacity.
My guess would be the 10 speed transmission and maybe different rear end gear ratios available. I can't find any info online with a direct comparison but, in the reviews of the 2020 they all list an 8 speed transmissions when they were tested. I am not sure when the 10 speed was introduced but maybe it was 2021, my 2022 came with a 10 speed. Makes a big difference. My 2016 Durango R/T with the 5.7L and 8 speed trans towed my 6000lb RV way better than my 2016 F150 King Ranch 5.0L 6 speed trans.
