Default Silverado 1500 2019 - 2021

Hi guys!

I wanted to get some feedback from guys who have Silverado 1500 series trucks from this time period.

I had a 992 Chevy Z71 (I believe was the model) and currently have a 2016 Chevy Impala.

I looking to get a truck in a year or two.
I keep reading that the Dodge Ram has the best interior and best ride in this truck class. Dodge Rams seem more expensive and I prefer the aethetics or design of the Chevy pickups.

Curious what you Chevy Silverado owners think of interior quality and ride and maybe in comparison to Dodge. I am not crazy about the interior of my Impala. It's comfortable but the seats are cracking and tearing, plus some of the plastic parts are cracking and breaking as well.

I think the best I coild afford is a Chevy in the 2019-2021 pre-owned range.

Also not sure if I'd go for a V6 or V8.
Since the V6 would have to work harder for a full size truck, maybe the gas mileage would be pretty similar.

Thanks guys!
Rich

Welcome from Florida. I have had both the V6 and a V8 and they were about the same in gas mileage and I was happy with the V6. My V6 was in a 1999 Silverado and I hear that the newer ones get better gas mileage. I now have a 2021 Silverado 5.3 and I am very happy with it. I bought one without AFM or DFM so I hope it doesn't have any lifter problems.

Thank you, is the AFM/DFM for better gas mileage?
It sounds like gas mileage is about the same with both engines. I've been curious about this.
I have to look up the horse power and torque.
Do the engines feels similar or is their V8 much stronger? I would assume the V8 is much stronger. Mine was a 1992 V8 350.

Any concerns with your 2021?interior seem good, decent ride?

I no longer use a truck for work so it would be my regular and daily vehicle but I like trucks.
Ride and comfort is important to me. I need a good amount of leg room which is why I ended up buying a full size car recently.

I looked up and found the power specs for each engine.

Have you ever driven a Dodge Ram? I was actually considering that even though I prefer the Chevy appearance. The fact that they claim no truck company compares to Dodge regarding comfort, interior and ride. They are more expensive however.

AFM and DFM is where they turn off cylinders to help improve fuel economy. I didn't want that because of the problems they have had. The 5.3 has more power than the V6 had but not by that much and the 5.3 is over 20 years newer. Never drove a Dodge. So far the interior is still looking good and this is my daily driver. A truck does give more leg room than a car does and I use mine for long drives and I like the comfort.

For sure the V8 has a lot more power. I looked up thr specs and the V8 is around 350 hp while I think the V6 is wound 280.
My Impala has a V6 at 305 hp.

Every car and truck are different but SUVs rarely had enough leg room for me which is what I used to drive and my full size car has tons of leg room. My older Chevy truck had good leg room but I've learned that not all trucks have good leg room. It varies. Yet a full size truck like the Silverado 1500 has more than enough. I'm tall so ts key for me. To complaints there! I've been in several newer trucks and I wonder why a lot of the car and truck magazines that review thes always say the Dodge Ram can't be beat for ride and comfort.

I love the look of Chevy trucks and I've had no complaints on the ride of the ones I've driven.

I'm excited to maybe get one in another year or so.

I see some with a painted front grill and some with a chrome front grill. Not sure what models have which and what the different packages contain but I'll have to start research and do some test drives.

Thanks a lot!
