Truck recommendation
I have an 89 k1500 and don't know anything about late model trucks. My in-laws are shopping for a truck to install a truck-bed camper.
What's the best truck option for this setup? In the old days, there was the regular cab, LWB 2500. Not sure what's used nowadays.
Thanks for any advice.

The camper fully loaded is likely to weigh in at 4,000 lbs and a 1-ton SRW will be adequate. Far better for them to buy a used truck and camper as all the integration work has been done. For most people a Class C motorhome is a better way to go as it is ready for immediate use. Motorhomes depreciate with age and not so much from mileage so a 3-5 year old one can be a very good deal.
I modified a Chevy 2011 2500 Duramax with special add-ons for holding the camper tied down, replaced the shocks with adjustable ones, replaced the factory tires for ones with a 1,000 lb per tire greater payload rating, and I added SuperSprings at the rear axle. The truck with the camper mounted was challenging to drive but I had a lot of experience with trucks and heavy loads.
