Default 1999 astro AWD Trans??

Hi all I am looking at a 1999 astro AWD van truck is in good condition body wise, problem is it was parked do to alternator died it set for a month or so last winter and he had it pulled out of snow and replace alternator. but it now will not go into any gear. what could have happened just from setting. I am thinking of buying it if not to fix I could use the 4.3 in my 96 blazer. he wants 300 bucks for it. Just wondering what might have gone wrong in this trans.

For $300 grab it. Not sure what's causing the trans not to work yet, need more to go on. Is the check engine light on? What's the trans fluid level look like? Does the shift lever move the linkage on the drivers side of the pan?

You aren't there yet, but there's a shop near me that does trans rebuilds for $800 that I've used, found them on Craigslist. Had to do the removal and replace myself, but completely worth it when compared to the $2500 most shops wanted.

I agree..for that $... can't go wrong...sitting in the snow could of done something...I paid $650 for mine and had my tranny rebuilt for $850..did hte same thing Craigslist..and I have a year warranty....Raise it up have some one change gears and look at the linkage......
