Default 2000 2wd Astro 186,000 no crank :(

Hello,
2 months ago my check engine light came on and I had it checked out at Autozone. The code showed I needed to replace my ignition key cylinder which seemed odd to me. I consulted my neighborhood chevy expert and he told me it's probably most likely the ignition switch than may be failing or may have a short in it so I took his advice, tore open the dash and replaced the ignition switch module. A few seconds after I ran the van after the switch replacement the check engine light came back on. Frustrated, I drove it that way until last weekend when I had the check light diagnosed again and the same code (ignition key cylinder) came back up which again seemed odd because the key and cylinder seem solid with little play or slop.

Last night I went to pull the van into the garage and I got a regular lit instrument panel but only a fraction of a second crank and then nothing. I turn the key on and off a number of times and no crank what so ever. So I'm pretty much dead in the water and I was wondering if a similar situation like this has happened to anyone else and where should I start to diagnosis this "new problem"?

Any advice or recommendations would be most helpful. I do have a nice torpedo heater for my garage if I need to jack it up and check out the starter motor and connections.
