What does your local dealer charge forGM keyless entry remotes?

MyChevy dealer wants $119 a piece plus $35 for programming for each of my cars (99 Astro, 01 Blazer).
I'm curious to see what other dealerships are charging for new remotes and programming.

I'm done with ebay because the listings show new remotes, and 3 out of 3 times I've won - I end up with junk that doesn't work and won't program. First one was superglued together and cracked. Can't check the battery if you can't even open it. Second one was completely corroded inside from water and didn't work. The 3rd one only 1 button worked and it looked like someone tried to superglue the circuit board pieces back together. Each one was advertised as new, or like new and they obviously weren't anywhere close to that. The Keyles Ride site is run by one of those same lying ebay sellers, so thats off the list too.

What does your local dealership charge? I bet there's some that want even more than what mine is charging.</P>

The other KR site I mentioned before wants about $65 a piece with shipping for the99 Astroremote.</P>


They're less than 1/2 that price on ThePartsYouNeed site with the instructions included. I ordered 1 this morning.</P>

I got my remote from ThePartsYouNeed.com in the mail today. 4 days isn't bad especially when one was a Sunday.</P>


Programming was easy, took about 10 seconds. I can't believe a dealership would charge 1/2 hour of labor for a 10 second job. Thats a good way to lose customers.</P>


Anyhow, the remote works great and when I went to put in an order for remote for theBlazer I noticed I got free shipping, so I bought a 2nd remote for theAstro and a pair for the Blazer. FINALLY I will have remotes that work and that I can use.</P>

On another forum, somebody mentioned that they had pretty badly limited range with their remote, but if they aimed the remote at their chin, they could get the car to lock and unlock from about 80 ft away.</P>


I tried it when I was headed back to my car from the mall today, and it works...lol. Probably will get brain cancer now...but it about triples the range.</P>

I ordered my keyless entry remotes from the same place based on readingyour post in this forum. I gotthe remotes today for my '97 Astro. I guess I'm juststupid because these instructions are vague to me. </P>


The instructions say "Drop the lower driver side kick panel". I am lost as to where this part is actually located. I have removed the plastic kick panel to the left side of the pedal compartment and found no "black box" with a red connector not connected to anything. Can you clarify exactly where this panelis locatedthat houses the " black box" ?</P>

A few months ago I bought a used 2001 astro for work (construction), and wondered if it had the keyless Entry system in it, the used car dealer didn't have any remotes for it, so while I was at my local Chevy dealers parts counter checking on buying some new parking light for the front, cause there were cloudy and turning yellow, I asked the counter person and he looked up my astros VIN # and told me it does, but there were two types, one for about $70 and another for about $120, but I needed to get a number off the recever, great I thought, but where is this recever ? he didn't know but told me to ask the techs out in the shop, but to my surprize thats was going to cost me $70 just to find out where this recever is, and then the cost of programing it, needless to say, I didn't get the remotes or the new parking light, or will I bring my astro in for any repairs or service, Thank You 93Miata, I will check out www.ThePartsYouNeed.com for the remotes and all my other needs, I would also like to add that all my life I have owned nothing but Chevys, and one new ford pick-up, that I didn't like. as a kid there were used, in 1978 I bought my frist new Chevy van a C20 long wheel base and a few other new Chevy cars over the years, this Astro in the frist used car I have bought in 28 years, I like to buy new, but not going to spend $20,00 - $30,000 on something that will be on and off road in a construction site, I am thinking of buying a new car this summer, the question is will it be a Chevy ?

Not sure whether or not this works,but its worth a try.I was told that if you aim the new remote at the vehicle and press the lock and unlock buttons at the same time,it should program the remote to work with your vehicle.This may be true,then again it may not be.....a little off subject,but i was also told that if you want to disable the automatic headlights on your chevy vehicle,all you have to do is press the dome light override button on and off 3 times...tried it on my 03 s-10 and it worked!
