Default Gas Cap Stuck

On our 99 Astro we are on our third gas cap and each one of them gets stuck and is very difficult to remove and the same to get it back on. Has anyone had this problem or any suggestions. By the way when we first get the gas cap it works fine for about 2-3 fill ups, then it starts acting up. Thanks.

Are all the caps you tried the same brand?

Thanks for the reply. No the caps were different brands, one was a Stant, the latest one was a Napa brand. Any other ideas?

Is the pipe end the gas cap screws onto damaged in any way? After the gas cap gets stuck and you finally remove it, is there any damage to it that was caused by the gas pipe?

no mention of a pressure release when the cap is removed so the only parts involved are the cap and filler neck.

Checked cap and filler neck thread, looks OK. Tried something different . . . If you remove the gas cap before you run the vehicle, it works fine, seems to be pressure building up after you run the van and then the cap is difficult to remove.

Thanks tech2, no problem with slow refuelling, no check engine light. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Pressure shouldn't be building up. The venting system isn't working right.
