Default XM antenna questions

I am installing a lot of stereo gear in my 07 tahoe (LT2). Just got it and plan to pretty much go nuts on the stereo without cutting many holes, hopefully none.

My main question is can i use the factory shark fin looking thing on the roof to recieve sirius radio? Or is it just for XM. I also was told that that doubles for the nav antenna.

Can anyone shed light?

Cool to finally find a place with good posts.

Check the glove box for the SPID Label. See if there is an option code of U2K. Which is the factory XM kit. If and only if this option code is there, will the antenna have the xm antenna built into it. If it does not have the option, then it will just be a GPS Antenna, and cellular antenna for the onstar. If it does have U2K, look behind the glove box for a silver module with a green cable going to it. That is your XM Reciever and antenna lead from the roof
And yes, a sirius antenna will work on an XM unit, and vise versa

Antennae are frequency specific, and unlike sat TV, XM and Sirius are not compatible with each other
