Even out of warranty they replace it. Had it done on my dads truck, they don't do it for free but for 50 bucks of misc fees they will do it. That's what I had to do

I would pay the $50.00 because I try and keep my or should I say my wifes Avalanche like new, but from all the stuff on the web about this, you would think that Chevrolet would determine this as a defect and would make this either a recall or would replace at no cost backing thier product, just as I said the same thing about the steering column whining. Thank you for your comment and I hope and pray all goes well Monday when my wife takes the vehicle in.

Called Smedleys chevrolet today and they said that my Major Guard Warranty did not cover this and they had no advice but they did say bring it in Wednesday and they would do the other work to my wifes truck and that it was covered and they would look at the dash. I called Langs Chevrolet and they said they would have the service manager call chevrolet and see if they could get it covered and or possibly I might have to pay a deductible of some sort. Langs said they would call me back as soon as they heard something.

Dissappointed so far.

Do you have any photos of the issue. I may be able to suggest something.

I do not have pictures yet. The vehicle is going to Smedleys Chevrolet tomorrow to have a new alarm speaker put in the door as it has gone out and they are covering this under the warranty, and also I spoke to them again today and they are going to take pictures of it and are going to contact Chevrolet for me to see what they can do. They first said maybe they could do a repair on it and I told them I would not take a repair as this truck looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor and I want it to stay that way and the only way I would accept this is that Chevrolet backs this up and replaces the dash. I also told them I am willing to pay the $50.00 to $100.00 deductible they told me their might be. I will post more on this as I hear more and as soon as I get a picture I will show you what it is. Thank you

OK, Wife took the Avalanche to Smedleys Chevrolet and they had to replace 3 speakers as they were bad and the safety alarms could not be heard without them, then Jeff the service representative looked at the crack and Mellisa and Jeff agreed that from the way the crack was on the dash that neither me nor my wife could have done that to the dash but said they could not help me as in repair the dash. I explained that I do not want a fix, I want a replacement and he said that is the only way that dash could be done as the repair that some dealerships offer could not be performed on this dash. I asked him what I had to do to get them to get ahold of Chevrolet and get this fixed for me and again I offered to pay $100.00 to get them to fix it and he said that it was my responsibility to make the first move and contact Chevrolet Customer Care and then once Chevrolet got back with me then thy could possibly help me out. I called Chevrolet Customer Care today 10/2/13 at 2:15PM est and spoke to a lady named Tress. She took my vin number and my cell number and then asked me what was my complaint on my vehicle and then seen all about my Avalanche and everything and then gave me a file number and told me that a Customer Specialist would contact me by tomorrow at this time and she apologized for the inconvienance I was having over all this. I explained that the dealer could not make a repair on this and I didn' want it repaired anyway that I wanted it replaced and I offered them to pay $100.00 to get it done. She agreed that the vehicle should ot have cracked like that and again told me a specialist would contact me within 24hrs andassured me that they would help me get this addressed. I hope it isn't a dog and pony show they are shooting at me because I will not buy into it.
This was the update so far. I will keep you posted.

Thanks,
Gregory Agee
