Question 2007 Avalanche radio quits when it rains

Hi, I am a new member here but have been enjoying this site for awhile. Well, my '07 AV suddenly began having radio issues. No sound except for the tweeters mounted on the A pillars.

This happens whenever it rains out, or even when we have a humid/damp day! If the AV sits in the sun for a day the radio speakers all resume their normal functioning. When the moist days happen, it shuts down all the speakers EXCEPT those 2 A pillar mounted tweeters. Anyone?

fullpull,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue. Have you spoken with your dealership about this?

Thank you,

Elizabeth, Chevrolet Customer Service

Yes I have, and they are unable to determine the cause. No codes, nothing with diagnostics. Since it is directly related to the weather conditions I suspect a weak/poor ground but where to start first? My '07 is an LT2, btw.

My dealer has spent about 4 hours with no results so far. I should not have to pay them to find a design/production problem can I?

Fullpull,

I can’t determine what you would have to pay for. I can set up a case for you and send it to Chevrolet Customer Assistance or you can call them at 800-458-8006. If I set up the case for you I will need your full name, address, phone number VIN and current mileage. If you do not feel comfortable providing me with your information Customer Assistance would be happy to help.

Thank you

I was contacted by Chevy's service folks today, they have started a case # and I will schedule a return visit to the dealer. Well, it's a start! Will keep you updated

Default It is back home!

Just got the Avalanche back this afternoon. I had to pay the dealer $274.30 and got the speakers replaced.

Default seems this is an issue

I just picked up an 05 Avalanche and the front speakers are not working: I have spent many hours recently and found we are not alone with this issue. I will be replacing my speakers in the next week or two as soon as I can find out what size and where the best price is.
I'll post my finding.

Default Just when I thought it was fine.....

I had to return the Avalanche due to the remote door locks and key fob stopped working. Also, the tire monitor system quit! Got that taken care of. Thought all was well. I was inside my house yesterday, the AV parked in driveway (keys were in the ignition as I just quick ran in the house since I forgot my wallet) ; not good! The truck started itself up, ran about 30 seconds and shut itself off! No one else around, no one in sight. How weird is that? I wonder if this has happened before and I don't know it!
