I have a guy that wants me to put a motor in his 05 Avalanche but I'm having a hard time finding one in the yards. They're saying that the 03 will not work in the 05 even though they're 5.3 I think it is, the new 327. There must be some substantial difference because if it was just a matter of exhaust manifolds, motor mounts, oil pan, etc, it would show up as a direct interchange.

So, can anyone tell me exactly what the difference is between the 03 5.3 and the 05 5.3 and if the 03 engine can be used in the 05 with change over stuff?
