Default Back up camera issues

Question about my 2009 Chevy avalanche. My back up camera went out and I can't figure out what's wrong. I have the screen in my rear view mirror and nothing comes up at all, no black screen, just stays as a mirror. I pulled apart my tailgate and all wiring looks good to the camera. I also pulled the pin out to check voltage on pins and am not getting 12 volts DC anywhere. Not sure if I'm supposed to our not but being an electrician it seemed like the right thing to do. Any help would be appreciated.

You should only get 12v when in reverse. I have to look but there may be a fuse that may affect the mirror/camera.

I had my wife put it in reverse and hold the brake.
