Electrical: Dim bed cargo LED lights
Hello everyone, I own a 2004 Chevy Avalanche 1500 and I recently bought some LED strips to improve lighting in my truck bed. I tested the LEDs with my bench power supply, and they work great—super bright. Since the cargo light socket in the bed is fairly accessible, I connected my LEDs to that cable. I checked the voltage, and it reads 12V when the dashboard switch is in the ON position. However, my LEDs are very dim, and I’m not sure what’s causing it.
I initially suspected a grounding issue, but I tested with a thick cable directly from the battery negative to the LEDs, and they’re still dim. Could the wiring to the bed light be causing this? What else can I test or try to fix this? This is driving me crazy—I’d rather not run a new wire if I can avoid it, especially with the factory socket right there.
Thank you very much in advance.
