Default Front Impact Sensors

Hi all

We have a 2010 Avalanche with the service airbag message on. The previous owner had it diagnosed by a gm dealer telling him he needed to get one of the front impact sensors replaced Has anyone done this? It appears that they changed the design for 2010 and later from the bolt being inserted from the bottom and being tightened by a 10mm socket to one that comes down thru the radiator support. My question is does the radiator or fan need to be removed to replace these sensors?

Thanks

John

you should be able to put a etorx bit on it...and screw it out...your turning it from the opposite end....the torx end is the tip of the bolt... so tightening it is loosening it...ie clockwise to loosen

yes I see that. But the top has a head on it. Is there a larger slot to allow that head to slide over then pull down? And then install in reverse?

iirc...you just have to back it off...not unscrew completely and it will allow you to slide it so the head clears. pics would really help
