Exclamation Head unit problems

i am new to this forum so bare with me if im doing something wrong or if this has been posted already but i have an 02 chevy avalanche that i just put a new stereo in and im to cheap to buy the wiring harness so i hardwired everything and thought i did alright but when i turn my key backwards the stereo turns on and plays just fine until i turn it up really far then my door chimes come on? also when i go to turn my engine on the stereo turns on like its suppose to and looks like there is a cd playing but there is no sound can someone please help or point me toward other posts that could help out

Go over your wiring again. On that note, where did you get the wiring directions from? Maybe they are not accurate. If that is not the case, did you buy any modules that will keep the steering wheel controls and the On Star working correctly. I did that on my 2003 when I bought my JVC KW-NT3HDT.
