Replace Batteries in Keyless Remote error - Can this be cleared?

"Replace Battery in Remote Key" - Can this message be cleared?
My DIC on my 07 Avalanche says to "Replace Battery in Remote Key". I have replaced the batteries in both remotes and used them both, but the error is still there months later. I pulled the battery cable one night, in an attempt to clear the computer... It appeared to go away initially, but was back later that day. Can this error be cleared without a trip to the dealer?
