Display shows 'Service 4WD'
The little orange light on the button for 2 WD goes out and ofcourse it then will not shift into 4 wheel.
Any ideas?

either ur 4wheel drive switch is bad or the transfercase encoder motor. i'd prolly go with the encoder motor cuz those r bad about goin out.

 

My 2006 5.7 limited 4WD was in the shop 22 times during the warranty period - mostly for the service 4WD message. The fixes included a pigtail on the rear differential as the original wiring was too short, new sensors front and rear, a new sensor/control of some sort they had to pull the console to get at from the top, and several flash attempts. The dealer finally got it I think - 6K...

My 4 wheel drive in my 2004 Avalanche is stuck in 4 down, when I push any other drive it just blinks and goes right back to 4 down. Any suggestions?
