Default Turn Signals are not working correctly

My right turn signal works correctly but when I switch it back to the "off" position in still stays on. The left turn signal doesn't turn on when I try and turn it on. I have to drive with it on the left turn position just to stop the signal lights. Not sure where to even begin. Please help if you can.

Sounds like the turn signal switch is bad. You will most likely have to remove the steering wheel to make repairs. What year and vehicle do you have?

2007 Avalanche.

Thanks, that's a start for me to look at, at least.

Is there a halfway position that turns it on where you hold it manually? will it turn off when your release back to neutral?

What happens when you use the emergency flashers?
